Choose a room, not a random partner
Group text chat brings several participants into the same conversation. It is different from random matching, which looks for one partner. Open the room directory, search by name or topic, and review the visible rooms. The selection changes as people create or close rooms; there may not be an active conversation on every topic.
Read the room before sending
Take a moment to read recent messages and understand the current topic. A specific reply—‘I tried that game too; which character do you use?’—fits better than dropping unrelated questions into an ongoing exchange. Group messages are visible to the room, so do not treat a public room as a private direct conversation.
Start a room with a clear purpose
Use the Create room control when your session is eligible to create one. Give it a recognizable name and a short description of what people can discuss. The creation flow explains the requirements. An invitation helps people understand your idea, but creating a room does not guarantee members or activity.
Choose what the room can share
Room settings control whether photos and short videos or voice notes are enabled. Media sharing also depends on account eligibility and upload limits. Check the badges and controls in the room rather than assuming every room permits attachments. A text-only room can keep the conversation simpler.
Keep personal conversations personal
If you enjoy someone's contributions, ask before moving into a separate conversation. Ongoing direct messaging on ChatUNO requires registered mutual friends. Avoid posting phone numbers or asking people to share private contact details in front of the whole group.
Leave when the room isn't a fit
You can browse another topic or return to a one-to-one text match. Use block and report controls for harassment or unsafe behavior. A membership count is not the number of people typing right now, and recently active does not guarantee an immediate reply.
No. A room contains a group conversation around a chosen topic. Random text matching connects you to one partner at a time.
Do I need a webcam?
No live camera is required for text rooms. Optional uploaded media is separate from a live video call and depends on the room settings and your account eligibility.
Are public room messages private?
No. Other room participants can read them and may copy what you post. Use a nickname and keep identifying details out of public conversations.
Is someone always available in every room?
No. Rooms and activity depend on the people using the service. Browse recent activity or try another topic rather than treating member counts as live attendance.
